An advisory period, which meets four times a week has been interwoven into the new flexible schedule. We will be focusing on helping students with seeing the symbiotic relationship between academics, culture, and life skills. Knight Time will also serve as a catalyst for learners to design and reflect on their own learning paths.

We have developed and refined West High School’s Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) template. The goal is for ALL Freshman to complete this plan (which is a 4-year work in progress) by the end of the school year.

We have provided suggested structures and curricula for Advisory with flexibility provided for staff via the creation of Grade Level Google classrooms. The 5 Pillars are a part of these structures, although Citizenship will be the focus of advisory. Relationship Building, RTI (Response to Intervention), Work-Based Learning, PBL (Project Based Learning), and SEL (Social Emotional Learning) are also be part of these structures and curricula.

We have provided PD (Professional Development) for our Advisory Grade Level Team Lead Facilitators. They have led PLC's on varying topics. Freshman Advisory teachers are receiving extensive support to assist with ongoing work in structures, curricula, and benchmarking.
