Opening Day FAFSA Updates
Greetings NCAN Members,
We know many of you have started working with your students on the 2019-20 FAFSA with today’s October 1 application opening. NCAN is aware of the following issues and offers the following recommendations:
FAFSA Issue
NCAN Recommendation
Fafsa.gov is currently experiencing browser issues
FSA recommends clearing your web browser cache, and if that doesn’t work, trying a different browser.
The mobile app- myStudentAid’s IRS Data Retrieval Tool is not working
To minimize the chance of being selected for verification, NCAN recommends that students use the DRT on fafsa.govinstead of trying to manually enter tax data via the FAFSA mobile app.
The 2019-20 Paper application is hard to locate online.
Click the following links to the PDF paper application versions in English and Spanish.
Both can be found in the Forms & Worksheets section on FSA’s Resources page: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/resources
We’ve been in touch with the Office of Federal Student Aid about these issues and will continue to keep you informed about what FSA says if these problems persist.
We appreciate your patience and persistence!
Thanks,
The NCAN Team
